Re: Media Coverage 2009
Unlike the other Nobel Prizes, which are awarded by Swedish institutions, the peace prize is given out by the five-member committee elected by the Norwegian Parliament. Former Vice President Al Gore won in 2007, sharing the prize with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, for his work on climate change. The prize-giving ceremony for the peace award is due to take place on 10 December in the Norwegian capital, Oslo. The internet is fascinating, amazing (and for porn) but there is no way you can award a Nobel Peace Prize to something which only exists as electronic signals. There's talk of an Internet Nobel Peace Prize – awarding the prize to The Internet itself, though I'd give a payday loans worth to hear how the prize money is going to be distributed – and some people mean to nominate The Internet for the 2010 Noble Peace Prize. The prize money will likely go down a series of tubes. Some highlight the power of connection, such as Urgent Evoke, calling attention to serious issues.
